Pine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant

At Calgary’s Pine Creek Wastewater Treatment facility, engineers concerned about the aggressive nature of sewage, specified Xypex Crystalline Technology to waterproof, protect and enhance the durability of the primary and secondary clarifying tanks, the bio-reactor cells and more.

Engineers know of the importance of Xypex products at Pine Creek and the part they play in protecting the neighboring landscape and the hook-hungry habitat of the Bow River from harmful chemicals that might otherwise leach through unprotected concrete. Xypex creates impermeable concrete to contain the wastewater and to protect the Pine Creek structure itself.

In the first phase of this project, Xypex Concentrate and Modified (180,000 lb) were used to waterproof and provide chemical protection for the first phase of this major wastewater treatment facility (400,000 sq. ft.), while Xypex Admix C-500 was incorporated into the 75,000 sq. ft. slab.
