Nita Lake Lodge – Elevator Pit Repair

Nita Lake Lodge is a premier hotel property in Whistler, British Columbia. It is situated at the base of Whistler Mountain, in the original Creak Side area, right on Nita Lake shore. Nita Lake Lodge was built in the early 2000’s and had, for many years, experienced flooding of one of its main elevator pits. The ingress and ensuing water levels into the pit caused the elevator to repeatedly lock at the ground floor. This did not allowing the elevator to reach the main parking level. In early 2017, a consultant’s report recommended the use of Xypex products to repair the leaks. The work was commissioned in mid-2017 and the elevator pit was sealed against water inflow using Xypex Patch’n Plug and Concentrate. In the spring of 2018, during the annual snow melt the elevator pit was again inspected and was found to be completely dry with no evidence of leaking. The maintenance staff at Nita Lake Lodge confirmed that since the repair the pit has remained dry. Evidence of Xypex crystalline growth in the interior of the elevator pit confirms the continued presence of water coming from the exterior and the success of the Xypex application.
